Marvel Unleashes a Killer Black Widow Retro Style Poster

Artist Matt Ferguson channels old-school design in his new poster for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, partly inspired by the James Bond films.

Artist Matt Ferguson has shared his new old school style poster for Marvel Studios Black Widow.

“I had so much fun making this new poster for Marvel Studios” Black Widow! We went for a 60s/70s vibe with the layout to give it that spy movie feel,” said Ferguson, who shared the poster on Twitter. The color scheme is simple, using only off-white, red and black, but the design is dynamic.Star Scarlett Johansson in her classic costume is the main focus, but there are also nods to some of the action scenes. with Black Widow hanging by a thread, sisters Natasha and Yelena riding a motorcycle and a city skyline all complementing the iconic character logo.

Ferguson also credits graphic/comic artists Jim Steranko, Olly Moss, Dave Aja and old James Bond posters as inspirations. Although fans are showing interest in purchasing the poster, it is currently not for sale.

UK-based Ferguson has a wealth of experience design retro style movie posters for studios like 20th Century Fox and Paramount Studios, design posters for the star wars movies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and jurassic park, among others. He has also designed several official promotional posters and box sets for other Marvel Studios films, including Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Captain Marvel and Wanda Vision.


This retro Black Widow The poster may not be available to buy yet, but fans can still see Natasha Romanoff in her first solo Marvel Cinematic Universe film, which is now in theaters and streaming on Disney+ Premier Access.
