– The 2022 Yamaha XSR700 unveiled
– Gets new features
– Unlikely to launch in India
Yamaha has unveiled the 2022 XSR700 update for Japan. The retro-styled motorcycle based on the MT-07 gets a few changes similar to those the 2022 XSR900 received late last year.
For starters, it gets two new two-tone colors. There’s black with gold graphics and gold wheels and a white paint scheme that comes with subtle blue highlights on the tank. Nonetheless, both options have a mostly blackened look. But these are not the only changes. The 2022 Yamaha XSR700 also gets a new all-LED headlight that’s smaller in size than the previous one. It also gets LED indicators and a taillight to complete the package. That said, it also borrows its big brother’s 3.5-inch TFT display which replaces the round LCD unit of the previous model.
Additionally, Yamaha also slightly modified the 688cc parallel-twin engine. It delivers 73.4 hp, which is 1.4 hp less than before. However, the 67 Nm of torque remain the same. But with a curb weight of 188kg, the 2022 XSR700 is also 2kg heavier now.
While the updated XSR700 will make its debut in international markets soon, it is unlikely to make it to India. Right now, Yamaha seems to be focused on its 150-300cc market in the country and has even recently introduced its electric offerings which should debut soon.
