The Kannada film industry had, compared to the Telugu and Tamil industries, for a long time been in the shadows, catering mainly to regional audiences. However, in 2018, Prashant Neel’s KGF: Chapter 1 featuring Yash came in as a welcome change. The nation got a new idol and style icon in Yash and his position was further strengthened with the release of KGF: Chapter 2. Along with the dialogues, sets, and storyline, fans fell in love with Yash’s outfits.
Yash’s Rocky bhai gave us the major retro vibe. From sparkly blazers to plain trouser sets, the fashion aspect was top notch.
Sania Sardaria, the film’s costume designer, said: “Yash has become a great role model for young people. Since the release of KGF Chapter 2, the number of people asking us to make similar costumes for them has increased dramatically. We get inquiries from everyone, including top industrialists as well as the common man”.
Talking about the return of the retro look, Sania added that the 70s and 80s, the era the film is based on, was when fashion peaked. “I did my research on the type of clothing worn during those decades and decided to create the retro look that people love.”
KGF Chapter 2 also stars Srinidhi Shetty in the lead role. She is Yash’s love interest for the film. The film also marks the Telugu debut of Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon. Sanjay Dutt plays Adhera, which is inspired by the Vikings. Raveena Tandon’s Ramika Sen is a strong political figure.
